Re: Laurie

I have a male first cousin whose real name is Laurie with no middle name or initial. So, I automatically think of this name as a males. However, the behind-the-name story is that when he was born, his mother desperately wanted a little girl and gave him that name deliberately as it was as close to a girl's name as her husband would allow.
But that being said, I think Laurie liked his name and it actually seemed to fit him. He was a freckle-faced red headed kid full of mischief and somehow his kind of soft name seemed to mellow him some.
Since I'm thinking of using Ashley for my son, I guess maybe I like the more unisex names.
