It's more nickname to me but I like it. I see it as more masculine one.

First thought: female.
Not as a full name.Sidenote, an acquaintance of mine name Lori recently named her first son Lawrence nn Ren. Apparently there are 5 or 6 generations of Lawr/Laur/Lor names in her family.

I think female, however, I really only care for Laurie as a nn. Overall, I prefer Laura or Laurel.

Male! When I was in my pre-teens and just developing a love for names, Laurie was top of my list for a boy. Not short for anything, just Laurie, with his brother Braidy :DHearing Laurie I would probably assume Lori and a girl. But seeing the Laurie spelling just reminds me of my old love for this name :')

Definitely male, definitely as a nn. I like it much better than Larry.

My name is Laurie and im female. Ive never met anyone with my name spelt this way, so i kinda love it for that reason alone.

I used to really like Laurie when I was a kid as a nn for Laura. I still kind of like but it's colored by the kind of commonness of Lori. But really Laurie should be considered a classic nn, like Katie for Katherine, no? I don't know. Anyway, Laurence nn Laurie is also adorable but I don't know if I'd use it. Laurie on a boy seems like fodder for teasing.

Female. I think Laurie itself is dated, but some of the full names for it are good. I like Laurel, Laurian, Laurienne, Lauriel, etc. Laura is good too. There's also Lauren but I think that is/was a little too popular. I also like some Lori names like Lorien, Lorian, Lorena, Loren, Lorana, Loriana, etc. but I think Laurie is a lot better than Lori. Lori is very dated, Laurie is only slightly dated.

My first thought is female. I find the name sweet.

My first thought is either an old man (Laurie for Laurence) or a little girl (nickname for Laura or Lauren).I'm not sure if I like it or not... as a nn for Laura/Lauren it seems cute, but as a name it itself I can only thing of those leather shoes with tassels that really old men wear.

Female. Laurie is not used for men in the US and hasn't been in a long time. I don't like it, it's dowdy and frazzled. Lori is cute and peppy though. (They are usually pronounced somewhat differently.)

Male, because I'm reading Little Women right now. (Laurie in Little Women is really Theodore though, Laurie is a nickname for his surname, Laurence.) But if it wasn't for that, my first thought would probably be female.

Male. My dad works with a guy named this. I like it as a nn for Laurence.

I have a male first cousin whose real name is Laurie with no middle name or initial. So, I automatically think of this name as a males. However, the behind-the-name story is that when he was born, his mother desperately wanted a little girl and gave him that name deliberately as it was as close to a girl's name as her husband would allow. But that being said, I think Laurie liked his name and it actually seemed to fit him. He was a freckle-faced red headed kid full of mischief and somehow his kind of soft name seemed to mellow him some. Since I'm thinking of using Ashley for my son, I guess maybe I like the more unisex names.

Female. I work with two of them, and they're both women, so...I liked it once, long ago, but now it's just okay.
