Shy and Slade
Just met a co-workers kids. Slade is an eleven year old boy and Shy is his 9 year old sister.
Thoughts?I asked Shy if she liked her name (diplomatically of course). She shrugged and said "yah. but it doesn't really suit me." I had to laugh cause as she was saying that she was sitting in the middle of the set talking away to everyone while we were filming. Nope not Shy at all ;)

I know someone who has a son named Slade. I think it's awful. All I can think of is the word slayed or even slave. Shy is just not a name. Why would someone name their child that? The only way I could see it working is as a nickname for Cheyenne.

Yikes, I hate Shy. As someone who is painfully shy myself, I don't see it as a positive attribute. It's like naming your kid Nervous or Paranoid. I wouldn't even blink if I met a Slade. I think I read too much crap, honestly. Slade would be perfect for the alpha werewolf MMC in a paranormal romance. His brothers could be named Brick and Thorn.

urgh, who in their right mind names a child "Shy" as a full name?Slade sounds like some rapper's name.

I like the sound of Shy, and I can see why someone names their daughter this. But...no. It's not good as a name. At least spell it differently.

Slade is sort of a GP for me, but Shy is just awful unless it is a nickname of some sort.

I think they're ugly names. Slade sounds like one of those romance-novel cover models, all tanned and sweaty with his shirt off. And shy is just dumb. Like naming somebody Bashful or Dorky or Timid. I could sort of understand it if her name was Cheyenne/Shyanne or something, but not on its own.

I like Shai (which is pronounced "Shy") for a boy, for what it's worth.Honestly I don't think it's bad. They're not names I'd use but I like the sound of both. Not sure how I feel about them being in a sibset together.
And I certainly prefer Slade and Shy over Slayden and Shylynn or something. You know they're out there.

I like Shy, I think it's very pretty, of course you could spell it a bit differently, but I like the sound of it.
