Carrigan / Kerrigan
The name Carrigan / Kerrigan has been on my mind a lot lately. I don't think I could see myself ever using it but I really like it's sound. Is it as bad as I'm thinking it may be?
Alternative ideas? I like Morrigan as well but not quite as much.
not expecting, enamored

I just saw one on the news
Her name was spelled Caragan, though. She and her brother started a non-profit to help kids with dyslexia.

I honestly had no idea who Nancy Kerrigan is though the name did sound familiar. She doesn't seem like an awful association. Anyway, Carrigan will probably hang out on my list for a while as a GP. Thanks!
I don't like surnames as first names, but out of the two I prefer Kerrigan.
Nancy Kerrigan still comes to mind, after all of these years. Also, the similarity to Morrigan makes it look like you're just changing the first letter to fit the K- kraze. Tyler to Kyler (I know 2), Mason to Kason (I know 1), Khloe instead of Chloe, etc. Maybe it isn't as big of a craze as it is in my mind while reading your comment, but it's annoying.
All I can think of is Nancy Kerrigan
Me too.
Yup. The whole Kerrigan/Harding drama is all this name conjures for me.
Yes, IMHO it is as bad as you're thinking. Even if not for Nancy etc, it just doesn't sound very nice (to me, anyway). The G is gruff. It's similar to the word carrion. Morrigan is too witchy.
Alternatives ...? Ceridwen. I know it's stressed differently but it's a good name. Kineret. Charmian (KAR-mee-an). Kerowyn.

Personally, it's so unusual that it's strongly associated to the few people/characters I know of with the name... which happen to be villains lol Carrigan was the bad lady in the movie Casper, and Kerrigan is a bad lady in the video game StarCraft.
But then there is Nancy Kerrigan which isn't so bad?
Anyway, as a name itself I don't think it's so bad. It's definitely better than Kennedy, Mackenzie, etc And it has a pleasant sound. Ditto for Morrigan, but also ditto my first comment cause of baddies lol

It's awful. It's in the same category of "let's be Irish!" names as Callahan, Finnigan, ad nauseam, with the added annoyance of "let's pretend we're soap-opera characters" as Kensington and Carrington.
For that matter, I don't like Morrigan either, as it sounds, in addition to the things mentioned above, it sounds like a gussied-up version of Morgan, which I also loathe.
Carolyn, Caroline, Carolina, Carrie-Anne ... anything.

I love your honesty.
