I'm in Canada, which I guess might make a difference although I definitely think Ebony is unpopular here too. I grew up with a white Ebony and I never thought it was weird, and I don't recall anyone I knew making comments or finding it weird. She did, however, say that sometimes people assumed she was black before actually meeting her. I don't really like the name, only because it reminds me of super popular Emily. - Hola
