Caroline
What do you think of the name Caroline?

I love it, it's my mother's name. I plan on using it as a middle name.
I don't mind it, it's classic and feminine and ages well, though I wouldn't use it myself.
I like it enough and I can respect other people using it, but it's not one of my favorite. I'm not compelled to feel all that strongly about it; it just doesn't strike much of a chord with me.
I like it but it doesn't strike me as exciting. Just not something I get excited about. Also, to me it's perilously close to Carolyn, which was a popular name in my generation and that makes Carolyn, as usually happens, a name to avoid for me. Plus I had a weird friend named Carolyn. So no Caroline for me.
It's on my list and has been for ages. I do think it's slightly stuffy and prim but it's also very beautiful and sophisticated. I like the nickname Cally and think it gives it a more wearable nature for a young girl.
I like it a lot better now that I live in the Midwest and not every other girl/woman is named Caroline (in fact I'm the only Caroline I know of here!).
If I weren't a Caroline, I don't think I'd like it enough to use it for my daughter, just because I'm not a huge fan of the image it brings forth in my mind, but I like it well enough.
I like it a lot as a middle name, especially for Eliza and Louisa. I wonder why it never got commandeered for a middle name? It works almost as well as Elizabeth or Nicole or Grace or Lynn.

Does your name ever get shortened? That's my only worry about the name Caroline.
Btw. Louisa Caroline is a gorgeous combo (although it does make me think of Bingham's two sisters in Jane Austen's P&P)

nope, always Caroline unless it's family and then mostly Caroline
It's stalwart, no-nonsense, very "Little House On the Prairie". I like it fine, but I don't think I would use it. Oh, wait- I could shorten it to Carrie, which I like. Maybe I would, then. :P
I chose it for my first daughter. I'd had another name in mind, but somehow she just looked like a Caroline - a name I hadn't even shortlisted.
So, to my surprise, I used it and love it. It has a light, dancing rhythm, and manages to be both sophisticated and playful. I far prefer it to Carol!

To be honest, for some resin the name has totally grown on me and I don't know why. I absolutely hate the name Carol, which is the base of the name Caroline!
I don't like it pronounced Carol-Leeen, I like Carol-line...
But I really like the name itself. I think it is pretty and sweet:)

Reason, not resin!
That's alright. I feel exactly the same way as you about the name Caroline. I never really thought twice about but slowly it started to grow on me. Even so much that could actually picture my daughter named Caroline!
I love it! It sounds classy and sophisticated to me. And it's one of those rare names that doesn't sound too old for a child nor too childish for an adult. Love Caroline!
It's kind of attractive, but to me it's always been a downbeat, kind of unhappy name.
I think it has a great historical significance and a classic appeal. However, I wouldn't use it because I have a bad personal association with the similar Carolyn.
I prefer Coraline, which somehow gives me a completely different feel and no bad association.
