Thanks a million for all of your help so far, guys :) You've been great!Just want to know what you think of Frances, Cecily and Heather as a sibset, just in case of any future daughters...Another thing: Cecily or Cecilie? What do you prefer?

Cecily! I think it goes much better with Frances in a sibset. They're both very traditional, classic names. I also like Cecilia and Frances together. Heather and Frances, meanwhile, sound like they're from different eras (not that I dislike the name Heather). And congrats!

Thanks so much! :)I do agree that Cecily and Frances go better together than Heather and Frances xx

Cecily. I like both. I would LOVE Heather if it weren't for the 80's thing. It's a plant name, it sounds soft and wild, images of Scottish moors, all that cool stuff. But... the 80's-ness... dammit, 80's parents! You ruined "Heather"!! lol
But Cecily is pretty and it sounds medieval to me, so that's good too.

Haha xx Thanks :)The 80s thing gets to me, too! I love Heather for the same reasons; it sounds so wild and peaceful and gentle. My mum was like "Ew, how 80s!" when I told her I liked it :/I agree- I love the traditional-ness of Cecily!

Please, please use Heather.Cecily has an unpleasant, hissy sound. No offense meant. Also, if you are in the U.S., I can guarantee she will be spelling her name for a large portion of the population, for all her life.

We're all entitled to our own opinions, but personally, I think Cecily is a stunningly beautiful name. Classic and elegant, but cute and youthful at the same time, as well as being easy to grow up with!
Also plenty of room for gorgeous nicknames! I live in the UK, and I don't really see a struggle with the spelling! Maybe she'll get Cecilie or Ceciley from time to time, but I don't see a huge issue.
Thanks for your comment! Xx

Yeah, I like all the "ss"s in that name. Also I know at least one in the US who doesn't seem to have spelling trouble.

I'd go with Cecily. It's fresher sounding. Heather isn't very popular for little girls these days, but I grew up with a bunch of Heathers. It doesn't seem quite ready for revival yet. With that said, it's still a pretty name, and I wouldn't mind meeting a little girl named Heather.

Thanks for all the help and constructive criticism you guys! You really helped out xxI've pretty much decided on Cecily, but if I'm ever blessed with another daughter, I'll probably name her Heather, as I love it still. But Cecily it is!Xx

I'd actually enjoy Cecily Heather! I like both names, and Heather was never as popular where I live as it clearly was in the US, but the flow of Cecily Heather is good and if you went the Cecily route you'd have two daughters with fem forms of male names. And very nice fem forms at that.

I hadn't thought of that! Xx Thanks :)

Cecily (more...)Cecily strikes me as much fresher, much prettier, and far more classic than Heather.

Cecily. It's a bit hissy with Frances, but Heather is super dated to me.
vote up1
Cecily. Heather seems very dated, and Cecily and Frances sounds like a nice set.

I prefer Heather. Cecily sounds a little weak to me. But, Heather's dated and Cecily's hip, so I'm not sure which I'd give to a daughter. If I did like Cecily as much as Heather, and I were torn between the two, I'd probably go with Cecily.

Cecily. It sparkles in way that Heather doesn't, and it goes better with Frances.

Personally I am not a big fan of either name, but of the two I would go with Heather. Frances and Heather work nicely for sisters and actually Heather Cecily could be the perfect combo for you.

Heather to me is ugly and outdated.
Cecily to me is also ugly but it goes better with Frances.

I don't like either, but if I have to choose, I will go with Cecily. Heather was formerly massively popular. I've known nine of them, one in my family. Okay, it's true that it has at this time dropped like a stone (predictably) and there aren't that many babies being named Heather at this time. HOWEVER, that does NOT mean that Heather is "refreshing." All those Heathers who were named twenty to forty years ago are still around and are in the prime of life. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's known multiple Heathers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is sick of hearing it. And that doesn't change when the Heather is a newborn. She's still at this time just another Heather. Hearing the name on a newborn still elicits an eye-roll from me because I am just sick and tired of that name and don't need to know another one!Now eighty years from now, when all those Heathers are dead, it will be a different story. But unless you can put off having your baby for that length of time, I can't endorse Heather.Heather isn't even pretty, so I never understood its popularity to begin. I don't think that Cecily is pretty, either, but at least there aren't hoards of Cecilys running around, Cecilys whose parents followed the herd during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. So Cecily it is!Wow, I just realized that I'm just as sick of Heather as I am of Sarah.

Cecily! Heather is dated, IMO. Cecily is lovely and goes very well with Frances. Frances and Heather don't sound like sisters; Cecily and Frances do.
vote up1
Cecily. I think it goes better with Frances, and Heather is dated.

Well, if you're very concerned about the sisters' names "going together" I'd say choose Cecily. Heather and Frances are so very different from each other in usage, feel and all.But I'd choose Heather, it has more character to me than Cecily. Cecily isn't a terrible name by any means, but it is hissy and weak-sounding, and Heather is soft-sounding but down-to-earth and not weak.

Frances and Cecily. :) These names go together well, and I love the spunky and classic Frances with elegant and sweet Cecily.

Mmmm...
I don't adore both names, but of the two, I like Heather better.
That said, I think Cecily sounds and looks better as a sibset with Frances.

Thanks! XxI love Heather SOOOO much, too! Maybe I'll be able to use it on a future daughter :)I agree- Frances and Cecily sounds better than Frances and Heather. Xx

I like both names too, but I agree with the others that Cecily goes better with Frances. Frances and Cecily sound great as sisters!

Thanks for your advice! XxDefinitely thinking Cecily now!

Definitely Cecily. It goes really well with Frances and it's just a neat name. I always really want to like Heather because I love flower names, but I think I know too many Heathers to ever really like it.
vote up1
It is a neat name! Thanks for the advice! I love flowery names, too (Frances' middle name is Lily Violet!). Heather is very rare for kids these days, though, and I love the peaceful, gentle sound.I think I'll go Cecily xx

Cecily hands downHeather makes Frances look... well, ugly. Cecily makes the set classic and posh.

Thanks for the advice. :)I was thinking of using Cecily because it goes better with Frances' name! I personally don't think anything could make the name Frances look ugly :)I still love Heather, but it may well be Cecily in the end! Xx
