Celebrity names
We have all talked about honor names and most of them are from friends and family.
Its not as sentimental obviously but if you had to choose a celebrity to "honor" who would you choose. I have two celebs that I have had a crush on for way too long and although I dont like their names it has crossed my mind to fit it into my kids names. I didnt, mainly because I thought it was embarrassing but also cause the names are not my style.
So who would yours be? Male or female or both, your style or not, just a celeb that you enjoy enough to consider using their name. Either fn or mn.

My favs are:
Dermott- dont actually like the name but wish I did or that I could find a way to make it work. MN spot wouldnt be too bad but it just sounds too much like Kermit.
Larenz- NMS I have tried to think of similar names for this one and I would be ok with Larenzo.
Tate- could do as mn.

Well, I love The Phantom of the Opera, but I don't think I would give my child a name from a POTO character. On the other hand, my nr 1 choices for a girl and a boy do have POTO connotations, because Tua was the name of the singer who did Christine the first time I saw POTO and Oscar is the name of the theatre where it was played (Oscarsteatern, Stockholm). I guess that makes me rather nerdy.
Other than that, well, I admire Frida Kahlo and Joni Mitchell a lot, but I have a cousin called Frida, and Joni...I don't know, I think people would mistake it for Johnny all the time, plus it's a common Finnish male name.

Two of mt top boys' names sort of come from celebrities. Callum - Callum Keith Rennie is where I first heard the name, and yeah, I had a crush on him, but I didn't immediately like the name because of that. It grew on me. It's a top choice.
Benedict - I always thought it was a neat name, fun to say and all that, but people were always talking about Benedict Arnold and eggs benedict. Seeing it on a real person (Benedict Cumberbatch) made me say, "Screw it. I like it. It can be used." Yes, I'm a fan of Sherlock. Yes, I've seen some of his other stuff. Yes, I think he's a really good actor. No, if I used the name it would not be "for" him. Hugh - Back to Canadian actors (and in this case, also-singer), this name grew on me after I started liking Hugh Dillon through his performances in Hard Core Logo and Flashpoint and on his most recent CD. It's not a top contender, but I do like it, and he is a positive association.

I have a few middle names I got from 'celebrities' that I would like to use with my favorite names:Matteus Bruce - Bruce after Bruce Spingsteen
Emmanuel Aloysius Saul or Emmanuel Saul Aloysius - Saul after guitarist Saul Hudson (aka Slash) in Guns 'N' Roses
Isidore St.Pierre - inspired by UFC fighter Georges St.Pierre (inspired because he is not the only reason I want to use it)

I doubt I would name my child after a celebrity. If anything, I would use a name from a favorite character or something like that. But if I had to honor a celebrity...maybe one of my favorite artist? In that case, either Austin, Brent, Zachery or Chad? The only one I kinda like is Zachery, but I dislike the spelling and it wouldn't work that well in Sweden.
