Kallisto / Calista
Opinions on both names or other variants (Callista, Callisto, Kalista, ...)?
Are these names usable or just too 'out there'?

They're definitely not out there. Maybe Callisto would be but not really. They're very tame. I like Kalista the best even though the K feels trendy. I pronounce it kuh-lees-tah. I dislike ka-liss-ta.

Callista, Calista, Kallisto, Kallista are all nice names for girls/women IMO. Kallisto is the most "out there," but it isn't unusable. Callisto seems gender ambiguous to me. Kalista looks wrong and trendy to me.I think I like Calista best. It looks more airy and elegant and neat than Callista. If I wanted it to be a mythology name, and not just a pretty name I liked, I'd use Kallisto.

I am a fan of the names. Particularly found on Calista.

Callista (and Calista) and Kalista are definitely usable. I just don't care for the K spelling for some reason. It looks more harsh, I suppose. Re: Callisto, it could work although it looks more masculine to me (the o ending). It's a pretty name. We had a kitten once named Callista Jane. She wasn't very pretty so I gave her a name that meant 'most beautiful,' ha. I felt she should at least have a pretty name.

I know three women (including a second cousin of mine) named Calista. I think it's lovely.Callista and Kalista are nice too. I don't like Callisto, though - it looks masculine to me (take out an L and you get the Portuguese masculine name Calisto - I know two guys with the name). Kallisto isn't my style. They're all usable IMO.

I like Callista - it was one of my favorite names for awhile. I knew a girl in college who went by Callie and I thought the name was pretty and suited her. I'm not so sure about Callisto, that seems a little further out to me, but I could see it working if you had other somewhat unusual boys names in your family or some Greek background. I like the nickname Cal.

I don't like Kallisto but I love Calista. I prefer that spelling to Callista. Usually I like extra letters, but in this case, I think the extra L muddies up the clean look of Calista. And please, no substitution of K for the C, what an annoying trend that is.I think that Calista or Callista are definitely usable. Kallisto I'm not so sure about.

I definitely think they're usable! My favorite of the variants is Callisto, which is so mystical and beguiling.
