Boethius
Our cat, Heidi, recently passed. Our remaining cat, Lucy, has never been an "only cat" and is kind of freaking out without her sister, so we were thinking of getting her a friend to keep her company and console her. I was thinking, if we get a male cat, we could name him Boethius after the 6th century Roman philosopher Anicius Manlius Severinus Boëthius. Boethius wrote The Consolation of Philosphy, which is about the wheel of fortune, and how even when you're at the lowest of lows, you will rise again. I thought it would be an appropriate name for a new kitty. What do you think of Boethius, nn Bo?Fur Mama to Lucy Minerva Irmingard

Sorry for your loss. Boethius is new to me; thanks for introducing me to it. Is "bo-eeth-ee-us" right? I think it's a fantastic name for a cat and "Bo" is a perfect nickname to compliment Lucy. :)

Boëthius is a not-too-rare surname in Sweden, so I can't really think of it as a first name.Sad to read about your cat passing away, but now she is happy and healthy in Heavyside Layer.

I like! Bo for when he's being silly, and Boethius for when he's being mysteriously catlike and/or in need of discipline (fat chance, but one keeps trying).Sorry about Heidi.

Thank you. She was very, very sick, so it's a comfort to know that she's not suffering anymore.
