Philomena or Philomela?
These names are very similar so I was wondering which one people preferred?

I prefer Philomena, though I like it better in the spelling Filomena.

Philomena. I love the saint, plus Philomela has too much L for me. I also think Philothea is a lovely, kind of mystical name.

I prefer the sweeter and more musical Philomela, but there are other ways to have a daughter called Phil - either Phillida or, especially, Philippa would please me more.Philomela could also shorten to Milly, which might encourage the Milly fanciers out there.

They're both unusual, but for some reason I feel like Philomena is more familiar. I'd use Philena as a mn, which is a name on my family tree and also similar.

Philomena, I feel like Philomela looks and sounds a bit like a medical term.

Philomena. I'm a sucker for -mena/-mina names.

Philomena sounds better and looks nicer in my opinion :)
