WDYTO Niklaus?
I have a family member with the name Niklaus and I am interested to hear other peoples' opinions about it.

I think it's cool. Fresh sounding, with good flow, and not so worn out as Nicolas.

I love it. It always seemed villainous to me but lately I've been warming to it.

I got drawn to it because of the character from TVD, it also made me love the nickname Klaus. But I don't think it works IRL unless you're in Germany or are of German descent.
I'm getting a strong, masculine vibe from the name. I prefer it by miles to Nicholas.

Niklaus is not used in Germany anymore, and a person with this name would probably be associated with the Niklaus (Nikolaus) who brings the presents for kids on December 6th. Niklaus was in use in medieval times in Germany. The name appears in a christmas carol called "Lasst uns froh und munter sein", where they sing "Niklaus ist ein guter Mann, dem man nicht genug danken kann" (Niklaus is a good man, we can't thank him enough).
