Sorry, I'm not a fan. I never know whether to say TAIR-a, TARR-a, or ta-RA, but the parents or bearer of the name always seem to act as if the pronunciation is so obvious and I just have a pea-brain. It's left a bad taste in my mouth, to say the least.
Ignoring those associations, I still find the name to be far too plain and abrupt. The spelling Terra improves the name slightly for me, but I keep imagining a tough, butch woman with no manners, the kind who tracks mud into your living room, helps herself to your food, gets crumbs all over herself, and then wipes her cheesy, salty fingers all over your chesterfield. On the good side of things, I don't find it dated and it's not a predictable choice.
