Ivor is always used for silly jokes like Ivor Biggun and Ivor Hardy, so I just can't take it seriously. Also, Ivor the Engine. I can't even imagine a child called Ivor, it really sounds like a grown up name.

I think of The Hoobs which I used to watch sometimes as a child. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hoobs Although the character's name was spelt Iver.

I picture a child called Ivor to be really pale - with white-blonde hair and invisible eyebrows and wolf-blue eyes. I imagine him to be eerily quiet and watchful.

I've kinda liked it since I was a kid, but didn't really love it until I read How Green was my Valley. Such a beautiful book, one of my favorites. I think Ivor is a really handsome name, it's strong but gentle and it has a nice clean color combination going on for me. Ivor is a stand-up guy, for sure.

Are you pronouncing it "EE-vor" or "EYE-vor?" Or some other way? (I prefer "EE-vor" so some of the combinations might not sound well if you use a different pronunciation.)
