Bobbi & Billie as twin girls
What do you think? Can't decide whether I prefer as stand alone names or nicknames for Willamina & Roberta though
Replies
They sound a bit nicknamey. I can't picture Bobbi as a given name. Billie sounds a little better. The association with Billie Burke helps me picture it on a woman more easily. (That and the song Billie Jean makes it hard for me to picture the spelling Billie on a boy.)

Far too matchy for my tastes, it makes it a bit tacky and cheesy. I don't like matchy names/nicknames for twins - they need some kind of identity besides the fact that they're twins and super similar names just doesn't help!
Wilhelmina (this spelling) is nice but Roberta is a bit clunky for me - I don't like Robert either. Bobbi and Billie aren't my style as I don't like boys names on girls, and I consider those boys names.

I love Billie, hate Bobbi, and they're way too cutesy for sisters, whether they're twins or not. Using them as nicknames for distinctly different longer names is better, but I still wouldn't do it. "Bobbi and Billie" is just so goofy and campy, in a bad 1960s-TV sort of way.
I don't like the Willamina variant, and I don't like Willamina and Roberta for sisters. Ismene once suggested Lillian, nn Billie. I thought that was so cute, and Lillian and Roberta would be very well matched for sisters.

Way too cutesy. They definitely need the full names even on their own but together its just over the top.
No likey. I don't have an issue with girls names that sound like boys names. However, I'm not a fan of the trends of giving nick names as first names, or giving a child a particular name *just* because it has a cute nick name.
I greatly dislike boyish nickname type names on girls. If you have to, though, I would vastly prefer that they be nicknames for Willamina and Roberta.
Exclamation!
I knew a set of twin girls named Bobbi & Billie in highschool. I remember distinctly thinking that the names were terrible. I was just starting to realize that people thought naming their daughters masculine names made them spunky and peppy. I think I heard through the grapevine that their parents thought they would have boys, but in case they didn't the names would work on girls just as well. They never confirmed that, mostly because we didn't talk (they were super popular and I wasn't, they wouldn't talk to someone like me).
I don't really like Willamina. Roberta is okay, mostly because its the name of my aunt.
