I like it. Lovely Spanish name. :)
It sounds like a car brand to me, I think because there is an F1 driver called Alonso.
I also think it would look strange with some surnames, it kind of needs an Spanish-sounding surname.
My second thought is the French 'Alons-y', but blame Doctor Who for that!

I adore it! It's romantic and swashbuckling without being histrionic.
I like how it sounds, but not so much how it looks. I couldn't use it though, and honestly I've never thought about it until this post.
It sounds really over-the-top. It's almost hard to take seriously as a name. If I met a little kid named Alonso, I'd be tempted to laugh and wonder what the heck his parents were thinking. Even on an adult, it's pretty "out there". I'd be more accepting of it if the the guy were Hispanic though, obviously. Then it would just seem relatively normal.
Not a fan of the name. Although, it does make me smile when I hear it... Allons-y, Alonso. Hah!
I think Alonzo looks nicer, but the general sound of the name is exotic and kind of romantic.
