Thales
ThalesCame across this name the other day and I quite like it. From what I can gather it is pronounced "THAY-leez" ('th' said like it is in the word 'thin'). Too much for real life? Opinions?

I would be inclined to pronounce is to rhyme with 'whales'. I don't like it.

My thoughts exactly. 'Whales' was the first thing that sprung to mind. Don't get me wrong, whales are adorable, but it doesn't make for a good name association.

It's on my PNL, I really like it (Maybe because my favourite girls' name is Thalia), even though I pronounce it THAH-les (The e as in the word stress)

I doubt the Greeks would turn an A into 'AY'. THAH-le:s for Ancient Greek and THAH-lees for Modern would be more accurate (I'm 100% sure, but I know it's more likely).I quite like it (with pron. THAH-le:s). I think it may be impractical to use as a FN though.

Thanks! I like "THAH-leez" better anyway :) it just never came up in my search for the correct pronunciation, though someone in the comment section noted it's pronunciation as "THEH-leez"
