Skylar
What is your opinion of the oh-so-trendy Skylar for a girl? The post below reminded me how much I like this name, but I'm interested in hearing what others think. Also, feel free to get crazy with combo ideas. I'm in a combo sort of mood today. :)

Not a fan. At all.

It sounds better on a boy, though it's kind of an unattractive name. It's not used where I live, so it would be interesting to see.

I like Skylar a lot as far as trendy names go. It is bright and sunny sounding. I don't know, it's just a happy sounding name to me. I prefer Schuyler for a boy though.Skylar Spring - this just makes me smile no matter how corny :p
Skylar Jessamine
Skylar Maren
Skylar Verity
Skylar CaterinaIt's actually pretty hard to pair with mms

i think it sounds so harsh on a girl. I really like it on a boy though. Granted I've never liked Sky on a girl... it's very "nothingness" and flimsy/impractical to me

I've always liked Skylar, though I mainly associate the name with the character from "Good Will Hunting." I definitely think it's better suited to females than males.

I don't dislike it. I'm slightly thrown off by the "sky" part because it seems a little cheesy to me, but at the same time I find Schuyler to be unnecessarily complicated so I think I'd rather see Skylar. I like -lar/lor/ler names for girls in general. I even kind of like Tyler on a girl.

I really love Skylar for a girl, and while some people say the spelling Skylar is for a boy and Skyler is for a girl, to me the visual says the opposite. I'm not sure why I prefer it on a girl, but I always have. I do prefer it pared with something longer thoughSkylar Antonina

I like Schuyler for a boy, but only kind of, and that's about it. I just find the name overly trendy in general.

I'm not really fussed by it to be honest. Living in England means that I don't really get a sense of how "trendy" some big names in America are. Never met a Skylar, never heard of one.
Skye is on my list, I really like it and prefer it by a long shot to Skylar.Combos....

It's one of the few trendy names I like, but I wouldn't use it because it doesn't fit my criteria for a name I'd give a child (not Italian enough, for one thing)Skylar June
Skylar Suzanne
Skylar Julia
Skylar Amanda
Skylar Emmeline
Skylar Paulette
Skylar Corinne(I like the idea of pairing it with a more classic name)

I like it too. Although I dislike Schuyler for a girl, TONS.It can't take any C/K middle names because then I hear Skylark... lots of letters don't work, D, J, T, Va etcSkylar Emerald

I dislike Schuyler too, it's very unfeminine and I want to pronounce it something like "Shooler".
