They were interesting to read. I love the name Katherine and as I age (hah!) it seems that the K spelling just seems common while the C is softer and somehow more sophisticated.

It was the opposite for me. I'm guessing that the popular spelling of Katherine is about to switch back to Catherine - so that it's fresh again. Perhaps Cathy as the nn will come back Now that Katie and Kate are so common.

Ditto. I've let it slide when people have called me "Katie," but I can't tolerate Cathy. Yuck.
