Mei
What do you think of the name Mei?
Could it be pulled off on someone who isn't Japanese or Chinese?

I'm Chinese-Australian, and I've seen a few people with that name. I think it's perfectly fine on someone who's not Asian, as long as you pronounce it 'May' (in Chinese it has a slightly different tone. I can't really explain it). As an alternate spelling for May/Mae, I think it's okay. Personally I don't actually like it much on Asians, because in Chinese 'mei mei' is the word for younger sister, so it just feels like you're calling someone 'sister' all the time. To me, anyway, with my limited knowledge of Chinese (I probably shouldn't have slept through those lessons my parents made me attend when I was younger).
It looks so pretty! I say yes on any ethnicity. Is it "may" or "my"?
Mei is lovely. I could easily see it on someone who isn't Japanese or Chinese. It would add to the interest of it for me if it were on someone who isn't Japanese or Chinese. :-)
hhmmm???? how do you pronounce it?
not sure on this one

It's pronounced that same as May/Mae just a different spelling!
It's the Dutch word for May, so it isn't all that strange to me, even though I've never seen it on anyone, let alone on a Dutch person.
I think it can be used.
