Yasmine
What are people's opinions on this name? DH has a middle-eastern background and we have a Lebanese surname, so Yasmine wouldn't seem totally out of place for us I guess. I've always thought it was quite a pretty name and here in Australia it's not something you hear very often, which is nice. DH doesn't particularly like it though, but who knows, he could change his mind! ;P

I like it a lot! But I think Yas-Ming is better :P
I like it a lot. I know a Yasmin. I think Yasmine is a little better though, because people are less likely to say "mihn" at the end.
I like it. I look after a little girl named Yasmin and she's a sweetheart. Before I met her, I used to associate it was the contraception pill of the same name but I got over that association really quickly.
I think the Yas- Jas- thing with Jasper would be a bit too close though

I know a woman called Yasmine (I live in Australia too). It's a name that's easy to wear with grace. It's not too common but not too imposing. If it was my name, I think I'd like it.
I like Jasmine a whole lot better, but I don't hate Yasmine. It just has this unshakeable association with the birth control pill "Yaz" to me because I see commercials for it all the time.
I like Jasmine and love Yasmin - not so keen on Yasmine. Yasmin is what an acquaintance married to a Malaysian guy called their daughter, and it works well here in Oz - not too different from the popular Jasmine but culturally in keeping with her background.
Another user-friendly in the West name used by Muslims is Amira - I think it's really pretty. And so is Leila - gorgeous.

I know some people called this so I'd never use it. It's a bit stereotype middle-Eastern, imo. And if your husband doesn't like it, I think you should keep looking.
I can't help but prefer Jasmine. I think it has a much prettier sound and appearance, plus a prettier nickname - Jaz over Yaz any day. :)
