Marguerite
What do you think of the name Marguerite? I prefer Margot usually, but Marguerite has been growing on me.

I absolutely adore Marguerite! It's one of my favorite female names.

I find myself liking it. It's so delicious and decadent. And it looks beautiful on paper. And it lacks the boring -elle or -ette of the French names commonly chosen by English speaking parents. Also, the end syllable of Marguerite isn't so difficult for English speakers to emphasise (unlike, for example, the last syllable of Adrienne).

I used to like Marguerite when I was in highschool but now it just makes me want to say margarita. Except for the drink, I think it would be an okay name.
I also like Margot. Kudos to you for liking it too. I think its a totally underappreciated name. I was sort of hoping the Despicable Me movies would make it less so. I know it will probably never be popular though, and thats okay with me.

I like Marguerite. My mom had a friend named Marguerite, so I grew up hearing the name all the time. It was just an everyday name to me.The only other Marguerite I have known of was the daughter of a co-worker. He and his wife named their baby Marguerite about 15 years ago.BTW, the first Marguerite was from Illinois and the second from Colorado. As far as I know, there was no French connection in either case. Both families were of German heritage.

I love the name Marguerite. There is a song I like called "Marguerite", written by a Swedish musician called Karin Renberg. The name is very rare in Sweden, but a few weeks ago I actually met a Marguerite! :)
I'm not very fond of Margot, at least not when it's pronounced MAR-got. Mar-GOW is a bit nicer.

It's the name of my sweet great grandma, who died the other day at 90. I find it very soft and old and wise and have been playing with it some. I like it overall, and without nicknames. Sibyl Marguerite is, of course, the combo I've played with mostly.Marguerite June
Marguerite Blythe
Marguerite Ophelia
Marguerite Lily
Marguerite ZeldaThese aren't very goodETA my great grandmother was in no way french nor anything except boondocks georgian

I really like it, though I would feel kinda awkward using it because I don't have any French in me. My fiance's family is French though...so possibly. I prefer Margaret or Margaretha though.

It's growing on me, too. I still prefer Margo and Margaret, but there's something about Marguerite...

Much too much for everyday use. That's the advantage of Margot - short, but elegant and lively. Marguerite ... by the time you've said the name, everyone's exhausted.

It's a bit of a mouth full I think, but I love the spelling. It reminds me of sweet French old ladies who bake all day and give their husbands a bad time for not washing their hands before dinner (wherever did that association come from??)

I can't get past my heavy association with a margarita pizza.Margot is growing on me, as is Margaret. I would never be able to use Marguerite without giving her the middle name Pisa or something equally as cartoon-ishly hideous.

It makes me think of margaritas too much. I'm not a fan of it, nor am I of Margot. My favourite Marg- name is is just plain old Margaret.
