Charles
What do you think of Charles?
I've never liked it before, and I've also had some bad associations with it but they aren't as strong anymore. I've always loved Charlie though, and this week I've started to like other nicknames like Chuck as well.
So, what do you think of it? Any FN/MN suggestions?

I love it!
I think the name Charlie can stand alone nowadays, so if you prefer Charlie to Charles then I would only use Charlie.
I always think of an older, posh person when I hear Charles. Think Prince Charles.

I like Charles. It's a little formal sounding on its own, although I think it sounds fine once the child is an adult. It's a bit heavy on a child, if you know what I mean. Personally, I like the nn Chaz. I think it's fun. Charlie is cute too, but it works a lot better on a child than on an adult. An adult with the name Charlie really has to have the right personality to pull it off.
Charles Anthony
Charles Donovan
Charles Julian
Charles Nathaniel
I think a lot of names work with Charles, although I seem to like three syllable names that are slightly less classic and common.

Charles is my BIL. So in theory it could have been a name of a child of mine. So I've done a bit of pondering on the name.
I love the formal name Charles and nn Charlie. But I'm not as keen on nn Chuck. Then it occurred to me that Cary *could* also be a nn for it. I don't know if I could have convinced dh of using that nn, but I would have loved a little Charles, nn Cary. :-)
