What do you all think of the name Tara?

Here it's always pronounced TAH ra. (I remember for a few minutes wondering what on earth the Buffy character's name was when she first appeared, because I was hearing Terror). It's okay - short and easy to spell, sounds nice enough. Not quite sure of the hows and whys, but it's got a much longer history than you'd think; I found Taras born here in the 1840s.

I really don't like it. It makes me think of a dinosaur. I'm not entirely sure why...probably a combination of the words pterodactyl and triceratops. And also I think it reeks of the 80s.

Faux Oirish, most of the time. In GWTW it was almost Terra, but I hear it as Tahra, with the long a as in far.Burial place of the High Kings or something equally cheerful, I think! I'd prefer Taryn.

Pretty. I used to think it was made up and slightly trashy, but I like it much better now I know it means "star" in Sanskrit.

I know a really nice and gorgeous Tara so I have all good association with it.

I like it if you're saying TAH-rah, though it's not my favorite -ara name (I prefer Mara, Lara, Zara, and Dara). TARE-ah grates on me, though.

I love Tara, as long as it is pronounced TER-uh (rhyming with Sara). In other words, Terra.I think he TAHR-uh pronunciation is pretentious.

It's a cute name. Kind of plain, but not a bad name. :)

It's okay. One of those names I don't have a strong opinion about. Yah.

I find it incredibly boring. I'd actually prefer Sara, despite its popularity. Tara just screams "bland" to me.

I like Tara well enough. I just prefer the way it looks to the way it sounds.

I love it! I think it's cute and spunky. It was my old posting name years ago.

I like it, but at the same time I don't really see it as anything special.

It's all right, but all but one of the Taras I knew were pains in the butt.
