Ivy
What do you think of the name Ivy?

I irrationally hate it. I think it LOOKS silly.
Quite a good name, if one has no associations with it, apart from plant life.
I've only known one Ivy, a math teacher I had when I was 15. She was unwell, with early stage Parkinson's disease, and shouldn't have been teaching, but I guess was working to have her pension.
So though not unkind, she was at that time a poor teacher, and I was a poor student=bad year for math.

I LOVE the name Ivy! It's short, simple and sweet yet spunky. It's botanical, easy to spell, pronounce and remember and has a "retro" classic vibe to it. All in all a gorgeous little name, which unfortunately is gaining popularity here in Australia.
Jasper and Ivy would make a great sibset ;)
I know!! It's on the list!
I used to not care about it, I thought it was boring and dull on par with Mary or Nicole. But it grew on me (har har). Now I think it would be a nice name to encounter on a child. A bit precious and overly delicate, it's got some of that fragile tight-corseted hyperventilation to it, but still charming nonetheless. I'd probably pair it with something calming, some sturdy dowager of a name to act as chaperone.

Haha brilliantly put to words! I love it!
Thanks everyone for your honest opinions!

I really like it, but I think it fits a certain type of person. I can see it most easily on a tall, thin, shy, pale, black-haired girl. There are other 'types' that fit this name though.
I can't bring myself to get over the poison ivy association and quite honestly, I don't understand why this doesn't bother more people. It's not even the name of a pretty flower or something...it's an annoying, itchy, plant. I suppose it has a cute sound but it doesn't help matters. "Leaves of three, let it be."
I liked it...
For about an hour. Then it hit me how silly it really is. It just sounds dumb, in a way even Daisy can't.

It's gorgeous. It has a carefree vibe, yet it also sounds dignified. I think it works well for both children and adults.
