WDYT of Averill (g)?
After having it lurk around the edges of my long list for years, I'm starting to really like Averill (pron. like AV-uh-ril, but for me the second syllable is very soft...barely there). What do you think of it?
Do you prefer Averill for a boy or a girl?
Which do you prefer: Averill or Avril?
What about Averill vs Everild? (Both are derived from the same name - Eoforhild.)

Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend
No way, no way, I think you need a new one
Sorry, but this name will always remind me of a diminutive Canadian "punk" "rocker" with perma-bitchface who sings songs that are ten years too young for her and has terrible taste in men. I have trouble separating the name from the girl, even though it's spelled differently. It's nice and everything, but thems the breaks.

It sounds like some sort of medication to me. I prefer Avril, and only on a girl. I don't care for Everild...sounds like a medication again.
Oooo, Averill is pretty neat. I've heard of Avril, obviously, but I don't love it. Not sure why, really, maybe just the celebrity association. I've met an Evril, but it always felt like a mispronounced Avril to me. Averill is nice. It looks a bit like Avery, which I like a lot (more on a boy than girl, but either way). And the -ill ending just feeels so soft. I definitely pick Averill over Avril. I like the sound of Everild a lot too, but I just can't wrap my head around it as a feminine name. I know it is, and yet I have this Everett mind-block that won't let me do it. :)
Sorry, that was a little long-winded.

Averill is a surname to me - that's the only way I've seen it. To me it's just not a personal enough name, and seems much like all the other surname names that are trendy - Emerson, Avery, Aubrey etc. Usable, not exactly unpleasant, but nmsaa.
Avril has too much air about it for me. Avril Lavigne ... it's glammed up. If one doesn't speak French, it seems like the only reason to use Avril instead of April is to put on an air.
Everild, though ... that's neat. The D at the end is soft enough - it's not so much a statement as Astrid or Mildred or Ingrid. I could even see dropping it. Everil. I guess then it is a little too much like "ever ill" though. Hm. Evril? I like that. Oh well, you're probably not that creatively inclined anyway.

I love Averill and I prefer it on a girl. It's smart, sophisticated and effortlessly elegant. I love Avril too. It's chic and flirty.
I'm sure most people will assume that they are related which is a shame. The fact that Averill and Everild (elegant, funky fun!) come from something as unwieldy as Eoforhild is fascinating to me. April / Avril give such a different, sweeter, vibe for me. But that's why I'm addicted to names and most people are out living normal lives.
So, which do I prefer: Averill or Avril? Averill (and Everild), but it's a hard, hard choice.
