What do you think of Yulia? I've grown quite fond of this name recently.Your thoughts?

Not a fan. Julia is worlds better. There's a Yonathan at the day care I work at and his name always irks me.

I love it! Where I live I'd get the same pronunciation with Julia, which I prefer and is on my long list. In an English-speaking country I'd definitely go with Yulia.

One of the girls from t.A.T.u. is named Yulia. I think it's pretty.

Lovely, waaay more interesting than Julia IMO. But, then again, in some places a "j" is pronounced as a "y".

To me it is a Russian Julia. Simple as that. Sort of like Edit is Edith and Veronique is Veronica. It's foreign, but recognizable, and similar enough to give the same impression as Julia. I love Julia, I think it's interestingly so classic it's generic, but at the same time it has beauty & gravity - it isn't dull. So Yulia is that way to me, too. Only she's not expected to be born to parents who were born in the US (I'm in the US).
