I think it's a beautiful name. I slightly prefer Amaia, but I like both spellings.

I think it's a beautiful looking and sounding name, it's just the meaning that puts me off really. I think Amaya looks the best.

Amaia was actually the most common girl's name at the school I taught at last year, and it's super popular in the Basque Country.
I prefer Amaia, I guess because that's what I'm used to.

I like Amaya. I've only ever met one. I don't like the spelling Amaia, which is odd because I prefer Maia to Maya.

I prefer the look of Amaya, but the name is like saying 'a Maya' to me (I love Maya, btw).

I think Amaya is lovely. Very sweet. But oddly I much prefer Amaya to Amaia but Maia is one of my favorite names and prefer it to Maya. For me I like the look of Maia more than Maya and the look of Amaya to Amaia. Weird right? Lol. But either way the name is so sweet.

I pronounce Amaya as uh-MAY-uh, and Amaia as uh-MY-uh. Which pronunciation are you going for?

My friend has a daughter named Amaya. Her sister is named Zoe. I like it but would never use it. The problem is that it combines common sounds and therefore sounds a bit made up and forgettable. I have the same problem with Amara which I really like. I think it's mainly common (it's in or at least near the top 100 when you combine spellings) because people think it's Japanese for night rain. I personally doubt that meaning is accurate.I really dislike the Basque meaning of Amaia so I prefer Amaya. Amaya might be a variant of Amaia but it at least has a slight chance of being Japanese for night rain, I guess.
