I like Devon and Devin for a boy but I have heard of several female Devon's. I think I would use Devon for a girl and Devin for a boy, like Frances/Francis.
Devin feels young and fresh despite that most Devin/Devon's I've known are in the 20-30 age range. It was never super popular and it has an established but not dated feel to it.

It's a county in England. Not a boys name at all. As a name I therefore prefer Devin, but I don't like it.

Never in my life would I imagine Devon being pronounced as dee-VAWN. If someone told me their name was dee-VAWN I would guess that it was spelled DeVahn or Devahn or Devawn or Devaun. When I see Devon I always think that it is pronounced DEV-in or DEV-un.

Also I was looking at the popularity data for this name and I haven't been this surprised in while. I've only ever known one person named Devin and it was a boy. I may have briefly met a couple of other Devon's but not more than 3 and I usually meet a plethora of people with all kinds of names. I'm especially floundered by how popular Devon / Devin was for girls in the 90's and the early 2000's.

Also both Devon and Devin were basically equally popular in the US for girls and Devin was more common by a bit for boys over Devon, but both spellings have both been more used for boys than for girls. I've never met a girl named Devon / Devin, but one time like a year or two ago the news showed the University of Washington graduating class that year and they briefly talked to a girl named Devon. This was the first time ever I had heard of Devon being used on a girl and my first impression was that I liked it but Dylan is better. Though really I prefer both Devin / Devon and Dylan for a boy but they aren't bad for girls.

I really like the name Devin / Devon, though I used to think it was an underused boys name, now I learn that it was actually very popular fairly recently, maybe not top 50 popular but it was top 75 popular.

I prefer Devon, as in the place (my parents are on holiday there right now) but it's not really my style. Devin looks quite ugly actually.

Devon is pronounced DEV-un. I'd probably pronounce Devin the same, or DEV-in to rhyme which Kevin. Dee-VAWN makes no sense whatsoever.

Devon's on my list for a boy. It's not a top contender but I like the way it sounds, a lot of people dislike it because of the association with the English county but I spent many memorable childhood holidays down there; it's a beautiful place so that aossication doesn't bother me one bit.
I think Devin is trendier than Devon, and I don't like the way it sounds as much. :)

I've loved Devin (and Davin) for years, but I've never quite liked Devon as much. There's nothing wrong with it, and it's a nice name, I guess I just don't care for the Devon spelling. I've always pronounced it DEV-in and didn't even realize it could be pronounced differently.

I'm really liking it lately. It's simple, but classy. I go back and forth on whether I like Devon or Devin more. They kind of give me different vibes- Devon is sleeker and more sophisticated, whereas Devin is a sporty, popular teen boy. Right now I prefer Devon.

I like it. I like Devon, Devin, and Devan.

I've met at least one male Devin and at least one female Devon, but I'm pretty sure I've also met male Devons and female Devins.

I disagree with the other posters- I think of Devon as the "boy" spelling and Devin as the "girl" spelling. Probably because I've only ever known two people with the name, oddly enough a boy (Devon) and a girl (Devin). I think I prefer the name, either spelling, for a girl.

I wouldn't think to pronounce Devon as dee-VAWN unless he was introduced that way.

If I saw Devon on a boy I'd assume it was pronounced "Deh-VAWN" because to me Devin is the male spelling and Devon is the female spelling. I could certainly handle Devon on a boy, (pronounced like Devin) though. I prefer Devin all the way around though, even on a girl. Either way I think Devin/Devon sounds dated on a boy, maybe because I grew during the time where Devon Sawa was like the "it" boy of J-14 and Tiger Beat

I think Devon is a better girl name. I say it and hear it differently from Devin.
Devon = DEV-un, rhyme Evan. Devin = DEV-in, rhyme Kevin. If I saw Devon on a boy I might think DEE-VAWN, like it's one of the De- prefixed black names. That'd be better than Devon DEV-un on a boy, IMO. I prefer Devin over Devon on a boy, but I don't care for Devin much either because it reminds me of the word devil, and feels sort of mean and cold. I like Devon on a girl, and I think I wouldn't have liked it if I hadn't met a female Devon. It's nice, sounds balanced and pretty and place-namey. I know a lot of people say Devon and Devin the same, but as long as I know her name is spelled Devon I'm somehow okay with it.

Personally, Devin is the boy's name and Devon, as a place name, is a girl's name. They are both pronounced with the stress on the first syllable.

I like Devon for a girl but for some reason I can't get into Devin on a boy. I think subliminally I'm still suffering from "Betwitched" reruns with Endora mispronouncing Darren's name in every episode.
