Perion
This is the name of a character in the book I'm reading. She's a woman, and people sometimes call her Peri. WDYT?

Reading The Stand? One of my very favorite books.I think it's a nice name - not my style, but I can dig it on someone else. I quite like Perry for boys, but Peri definitely works on a girl. I give it a thumbs-up.

Yup. :)

I don't like it, sorry. It's one letter off from period, so it reminds me of menstruation, and also the perinium. Ew.

Sounds like a new brand of expensive water.

I love PeriMy next door neighbor was Iranian and named her daughter this - Peri Elizabeth. Peri means fairy. Unfortunately everyone sees it as a male name, so I nixed it. Pari is another spelling. As to Perion, it reminds me of perrier. Just don't like it.

The sound is pretty, but I thought of bottled water.

It sounds like medicine for PMS.
Peri is kind of cute, but kind of not. In medical terminology, peri is a prefix meaning "around" like periodontal, meaning, "around the teeth, gum-related."

Interesting. I thought it was male before reading the post, but I think I like it. I don't particularly like the sound of Peri though.

Perion bottled water is what I first thought of. But I think it's named after a place in France, so as a geographic name it's not so "out there" after all. I still think of Perry as a boy's name, either in it's own right or short for Percival or Peregrine. So Peri on a woman is a non-starter for me. Perion isn't sinking in either, sorry. ETA: I would go for Peronel in a heartbeat for a girl. I'd even sign on to Peri as a nn, just to get Peronel on a birth certificate. :-D

Ditto all this......including loving Peronel. Awesome, unjustly ignored, little name.

My first thought was of Peri who was a companion of Dr Who. I googled it and she had a full name on the show, too... Perpugilliam. OK so now I really do think it was influenced. Unconsciously maybe!Peri is a cute name I guess. Except that it slightly brings to mind icky-ish words like perineum, perianal, peripheral, pericarditis, perinatal... and I don't care for Perion. That looks masculine to me. If it were Perien or Perian, maybe I could see more appeal. I could see Peregrine "Peri" working on a woman too.
