Re: How do YOU pronounce Catherine?
Katherine is my full name, and I have *never* heard someone say it Kath-uh-rine. Ever. The only time I could imagine someone saying that is if they were drawing it out really slowly. No matter how you choose to prn it, different people will just say it different, depending on their accent or speed of speech or whatever.By the way, I like the C spelling much better than my name! It looks so much prettier! The only downside to the C is if you wanted to have the nickname Kate or Katie (my nicknames), I think Cate and Catie look a little funny. Maybe that's just because I am used to the K?

I actually really like the nn Cate, and it doesn't look funny to me, but the other nn I really like is Kit, which I really would feel weird using since we're spelling it with a C, but I like that nn so much I may still do it! Thanks for the input!Bonnie, mom to John (5/19/04), Max (4/15/05), & baby sister (edd 7/3/06).

I don't see why Kit couldn't work as a nn for Catherine. I strongly suspect the nn Kitty came about as a result of the CATherine spelling (kitty cat). It's an adorable nn.
