Angelica

I really like it. I work with an Angelika from Poland. She gets called Lika as a nickname, but goes by her full name. I don't think Angie will automatically happen.
Rugrats.
My first thought is the bratty little girl from the cartoon Rugrats.
Disregarding that, it is a lovely name. It is full of nickname potential and very feminine without being too cutesy or frilly.
I think another nickname or just saying "It is Angelica, not Angie" would work.
Also my mother in law is Angelika and she always goes by Angie.

My favorite Angel- name will always be Angeline, but I like Angelica, too. I picture the plant, all rangy and unpretty with those big clusters of flowers that look like Hoberman spheres. I like the image, and I feel like it adds a little bit of hardiness to a very soft name.
It's often not easy to stop very obvious nicknames, but if you correct anyone who calls her Angie, you can probably avoid it, at least while she's small. As she gets older, she may not care, or she may like Angie and choose it for herself, and it would be out of your hands. If you absolutely loathe Angie, Angelica is a risky choice.

I like it, I'd use it. There is indeed a risk she'd become Angie, and there's only so much you can insist if it's what she picks for herself :)
I adore Angelica! I only recently realized this.
Once I was a camp councillor(I was 16), and the woman who was my senior-and got to sleep in a room by herself and not have to take the kids to the bathroom in the night!-was named Lillian Mountain. She was very overweight indeed, so unfair of a name!
To be fair,re the single room, I suppose she had served her time as a bathroom-escorting junior. :)
I love the name Angelina.Might have considere it as a name for my daughter, even, would it not have given her the initials A.A.
An excellent organization, but still...

I've always loved Angelica. Happily for me I've never watched the cartoon where Angelica is a negative character. So I'm free to enjoy the soft, melodious notes of Angelica lingering in the air without an annoying pop culture reference ruining it.
Nicknames are never in your control, at least where I live. Perhaps you can when she's young. But once she hits the tween years it's all up to her -- wherever you are. She can always be Angelica to you. I still call my niece Maureen instead of Mo. (I like the nn Mo, but I love the name Maureen.)
