Graydon or Gearson
Having a hard time deciding between Graydon James or Gearson James for a name for my son. Not sure on spelling for either name but 1st things 1st. What do you think?

-ayden names, including all of the various spellings, are extremely overused these days. With that said, I'd still go with Graydon because I love the name Gray, which could be used as a nickname. I don't care for the way Gearson sounds.
I agree with the people who have already suggested Grayson. I prefer it to Graydon.

Sorry but I don't like either of them. I don't like surnames as first names anyway and these have a surnamey feel to them.
Graydon is too similar to the super-popular - ayden/aydon names like Brayden, Kayden, Hayden etc.
Gearson sounds like a name someone who's really into cars would use.
If I had to use one, it'd be Graydon.

Between these two, absolutely Graydon. It's bleh in that it's doing the 'oh hey I rhyme with Aidan!' thing, but I think "Gray" is nice, so.
Gearson is in no way nice, in my opinion, sorry. It makes me think of gears, and grease - like, the oily kind that's hard to get off your hands: gross. Plus I think it was a (last) name of one of the cars in Cars :/
This is totally just me attempting to foist my own name tastes on you, so please feel free to ignore, but: Gratian? It's like Graydon - but cooler!

I think I will say Graydon. I actually kind of like Gearson for some reason, but I think that Graydon would a better name in real life.
Graydon James 100%. Gearson sounds really strange to me if I'm being completely honest. I don't like that the word "gear" stands out like a sore thumb. I would stick with your spelling of Graydon James, I think it's the nicest.
Honestly, they aren't my style. They seem a bit trendy. I'm seeing Gray & Grayson everywhere, and these seem just like variants of those names.
Graydon... when I say it I think of "gradin'" or "grading" like you'd do with papers.
Gearson, makes me oddly think of cars.
I think Grayson James wouldn't be bad, or there are other names with a similar feel. Emerson James would be nice to see. I'm sorry if I am not much help here.

Gearson doesn's look or sound appealing at all, so I'd go with Graydon. Better yet, what about compromising with Grayson?
Wow, off the top of my head, I don't know which I prefer. Let me talk it through a bit. :)
Graydon - Don't like that it looks like there's a type-o in Grayson. Don't like that it's yet another Aidan rhyme. Like Gray as a nickname.
Gearson - Looks entirely made-up, which I'm not a fan of. I don't actually mind the sound. I do like -son names and it kind of reminds me of Carson, which I like.
Hm, I'm still not totally sure, but I think I'd pick Gearson, based on I'd prefer a made-up look to a type-o look. :)
Anyway both sound fine with James.
