Hi, Caragh ~
I don't like Jaime for a girl; my mind always reads it as a Spanish boys name.
Jamie is better, imo, and while I like the sound of it I could never use it as a given name. It would have to be a nickname, but I don't know for what.
DH :-)

I love James, nn Jamie for a boy.
"J'aime" (pr. zhemm) is a phrase in French, not a name.
Jaime is a Spanish boy's name, pronounced "HIE-mee" or "HIE-may."
For all those reasons I can't like Jaime for a girl. And I don't think it's Scottish at all. I think it's a typical trendy, American created name. Another reason I don't like it, sorry.

No it's not
The traditional Scottish feminine form of James is Jamesina. Jamie may be thought of as a shortened form of Jamesina or a direct feminine form of James, but Jaime certainly isn't.
Jaime is the Spanish male form of James, and it's pronounced HIE-me. Some North American parents may also take it from the French phrase j'aime "love" and pronounce it JAY-mee, but j'aime is actually pronounced ZHEM and isn't a name at all amongst French-speakers.
Jaime's 100% male to me. If you want it for a girl, spell it Jamie and Jamie only, please.

Love the name, but I hate this spelling because J'aime means "I like..." in french. I much prefer Jamie. I love as a nn for a boy too.

Don't like it. It's too trendy and boring, IMO, and I prefer the spelling Jamie, but only for a boy.
