Xavier?
Your thoughts and opinions on the name Xavier? Thanks!ETA: Also, how do you pronounce Xavier? I seen in the BtN database there seems to be different pronunciations. I say it ex-ay-vee-er or well, as seen on the database, ig-ZAY-vee-ər. Sounds more like how I say it. When said real fast it sounds like ex instead of ig haha. But yes that is the English pronunciation according to the BtN database. How do you prounounce it?

I really like it, it's very handsome, but not trendy and reminds me of St. Francis Xavier. I prefer ZAY-vee-er when it's used as a first name, though I said it the same as you for the majority of my life.

Ex-ay-vee-er. Ah. So, not Spanish then, and probably not Catholic either. What the heck - name him Xavier and give him an ex-eye-lo-phone.

I am Catholic. Where I live this is how this name is pronounced. I was curious how others pronounce it.

Also,I edited in my original post that I say it the Englsh pronunciation. ig-zay-vee-er. With my accent said real fast it sounds like ex instead of ig lol. So yes I use the English pronunciation and was wondering the pronunciation used by others.

ZA-vee-er, or ZAY-vee-er. Anything else sounds comically uneducated where I live.

I quite like the name actually... and am ok w/ either Ks-ayv-ee-er or Zavier... I prefer it w/out the vowel sound at the beginning because it doesn't exactly belong there. The name itself makes me think of Cabbage Patch Kids, but that's not a bad association... The idea of giving a positive image to adoption is a good thing in society.
Javier is nice too.

I really like it and it has been on my mind lately for some strange reason. It might be catapulting itself onto my usable list for boys here. I prefer the ZAY-vyər pronunciation in English, but my favorite pronunciation is the French, za-VYAY.

I love the name, but I don't understand that pronunciation. You wouldn't say Ex-ee-na for Xena,
or Ex-an-der for Xander. So why pronounce the X in Xavier? When pronounced Zay-vee-er, I love it.

This.I don't get the whole x-pronouncing thing at all either.
I'd say xav YAY or possibly ZAY vee er.

I love it. It is one of my faves. I tend to say "ig-zay-vee-er".

My cousin's best friend just named her son this. They say EX ay vier. We were saying SAY vier before. I was surprised to hear that they used it.

I say "ZAYV-yer." I really like the name Xavier; I think it's handsome and actually underused even though it's recognizable to most people.

Xavier has rather grown on me, along with some other 'X' names like Xenia and Xander.
I flip between two different pronunciations: EX-zay-vee-er and ZAY-vee-er - though I think the latter would be more obvious in the spelling Zavier.
