Verity
I received "Code Name Verity" for Christmas, and while reading it, Verity has been pinging around in my brain and lighting it up. I think I rather like it's very-British sound, but I would like to know what you all think. Is it too weird? Too British? (As if there's such a thing. :)) What do you think of it's modern-virtue looks and sound. If you like it, what would you pair it with? So far, I've got:Verity Marianne
Verity Artemis
Verity Alice
Verity Cecelia
Verity Ceridwen

I used to hate, now I find it quite sweet and endearing. I still don't think I'd actually use it, as I like other names more, but it is pretty.

Have only met 1 Verity. Nice girl. I like the name and the sound and the meaning... and the fact that it's not overused. Verity Alice is the nicest of the combos above, though I admit I'm not really fond of any of them. It at least flows well w/ Alice and Alice is an ok name. It's just a little boring to me.
My standard combo for it is Chinatsu Verity, though I realize not everyone throws Jpns. names into their combos... I do though... just the way it is.
V Camille
V Estelle
Estella V
hmmm... These Estelle/a ones might work well w/ Genevieve in place of Verity as well.
V Patricia
V Adele
V Carmen
V Carmel
V Janelle
V Joelle
V Jolene
Jolene V
Jocelyn V
Kendra V
V Charleen / Charlene (you pick whether to go w/ soft or hard ch)
V Carla
V Christina
V Laurelle
Lauren V (Lauren's not really a fave name of mine and seems a tad on the trendy side for my liking, but it kinda works w/ Verity)
Verity Laurence (might work w/ a Fr./En. couple)
V Brielle
Gabrielle V
V Gabriella

Oh my...Chinatsu Verity's rather pretty, isn't it? I've never heard Chinatsu before, but I do like some Japanese names-I just mostly seem to collect them from mangas/animes, lol.

The kanji I like for it are 智名津 (wisdom-name-near the water), but there are many possibilities. 1 woman I know w/ the name has the kanji for thousand and summer... so 1000 summers... Have to be careful when collecting names from manga and anime... some are commonly used real names and some are just made up for entertainment... wisest to ask someone familiar w/ Jpns. names before ever using them.
Glad you like the combo... I really like playing w/ combos.

I adore Verity and would consider using it. It is one of those names that always lingers on the fringes of my 'Top' lists but never quite makes it to number one. If I had a partner who loved it, it could easily be a serious contender.Verity Alice is beautiful. It makes me think of delicate antique lace for some reason. My favourite combo for it is Verity Deirbhile (derv-la) but that one is probably a little too obscure. I love the meaning and the repeated 'v' sounds in it.Other Verity combos on my list are:
Verity Constance (very virtue-y but I like it)
Verity Blythe
Verity Sarai

I really, really like Verity lately. She's quite prim and yes, very British. I think it looks and sounds so pretty. It's light, uplifting. And the meaning is nice.

I've never really thought much about Verity. I like how it rings, and I love the meaning. I don't think it's too weird or too British ;) and it's refreshing as a virtue name. However, I think I would probably prefer the shorter, softer Vera as a first name.

I've always loved Verity ever since seeing the 1970's BBC version of "Poldark." The main character's sister is Verity and it's set in 1700's Cornwall. So that's what I associate with it. Verity Alice is perfection. Stop. Do not pass go. You have a winner.
