Soren
How do you pronounce the name Soren? Is it similar to "certain" without the t, or more like SORE-en?

I know it's not authentic, but I'm used to hearing Soren Kirkegaard's name in English as "SOR-en." If you live outside of Scandinavia / Germany you might have a hard time with another pronunciation. Ah, heck. What I really mean is if you live here in the U.S. that's how it will most likely be pronounced.
"Certain" without the t is pretty much spot on. That's the closest you can get if you want to pronounce it the Swedish way (Sören)
I see that someone else has already describe the Danish pronunciation (Søren).
You could also decide to ignore the origin of the name and just go woth SORE-en. I guess that's how you intuitively pronounce it if you are from an English-speaking country.

I say SOR-en.
Well, spoken by native Scandinavians and written with the slash through the "o" it is pronounced like SIR-en or like one syllable SIRn...here is where you can hear it being pronounced: http://www.forvo.com/search/S%C3%B8ren/no/
Hope this helps!

Yep!
That's how we pronounce Søren in Denmark.
It's the name of my step-dad... :)

THIS.
I like it a lot with the ø and the Scandinavian pronunciation, but it just sounds wrong to me pronounced SORE-en.

My Danish friends, who write it wih a line through the 'o', pronounce it as a single syllable Seuen kind of sound. Like 'u' in furniture and no recognisable 'r'. It's a tough name to pronounce and he goes by Sean here.
I have only heard it pronounced SORE-en
