It would not matter a whit if Russell meant fox. Nobody would know and if they did, why would they think it was too much? I think it's fine.
Fox is not godawful, but my problem with it is that it's a trivializing word for someone who has sex appeal ... which makes it less than great. And it's celebby/charactery (some actor named a daughter Fox last summer) and surnamey (in other words not my style).
