Elegant, beautiful, timeless. I think Lydia is a lovely classic name.

I LOVE Lydia and have for many years. It's always on my list. I don't think it sounds dark or gothic at all. It sounds beautiful and classy to me. :)

It makes me think of Lydia Bastianich, and I like that association. It makes it seem less youthful and dark than I'd otherwise think it was.

Pros: Lydia is classic, flowing and looks nice written down.Con: It rhymes with Chlamydia -- I can't get past that, I'm afraid. BTW, I just typed in "Lydia Chlamydia" on Google and a link to a video on Youtube.com popped up of a band by the same name! They're in the UK. I just can't ... LOL.

Now that is something that makes me laugh and made my day!

LOL, several years ago, the NYC Health Department did a media and transit campaign against STD's featuring "Lydia, the girl with Chlamydia." THAT's what I was searching for when I Googled the phrase. Never in a million years did I think a band would name themselves that! :-)

Dislike. Pretentious, ephemeral and firmly rooted in the eighteenth century, which wouldn't be my first choice for time travel.

I really like it. I'm torn on whether I do enough to use it, but I think it's a really beautiful name. I've always liked Lydia Mary as a combo

I love Lydia. It's consistently been my favorite name for nearly twenty years.I think it's strong, feminine, classic, beautiful (in sound and look, when spelled Lydia), works well on a wide variety of personality types, and sounds great on a baby/girl/woman of any age.

I love Lydia! It's actually within my top five. I think it's beautiful, and as a bonus it has a family connection for me.

I like Lydia, I guess. But it does make me think of kitty litter for some reason. And so whenever I hear Lydia, images of a cat box spring to mind. Not the most pleasant association.

It's really nice. I mean, it's great. Classic, pretty, but not pretentious or difficult. It's sort of like Julia only "fresher." It's not even stuckup. I've seen people called it and it's very friendly and dignified. I can't say I really "like" it myself, though. I mean, I like it for your kid but I don't think I'd want to be Lydia. I personally prefer Julia.

Love! mI adore the name Lydia. It has a gothic feel but still girly. Like black lace. I picture a wild amount of black hair, a slow smile, and maybe a bit of mischievousness! :)

I'm not really fond of this name.Because it's my paternal grandmother's name. She was born in 1918 and it's pretty much a name, used before before the 1950's in Denmark and maybe earlier. It's pretty much a granny name, for the mid-late 60's and onward generations of Denmark. Earlier maybe. I mean, I always thinks of my grandmother, when I hear the name Lydia. It's really dated, to me, then...

It's ok but it's not a favourite of mine. I don't really like the "Lid" sound.

I really like it. It's cute for a little girl, but sophisticated for a middle-aged woman, and it's good on an old lady to. It's cute and spunky, but classy and very pretty.
