The vowel is like the E in Spanish de "of," which does not sound just like the English word "day." But Phaedra does not sound like the word "fed" + ra, either.
I think FEE-dra is okay, but pronounced that way, I like it less.
I dislike it when it's pronounced FAY-dra, like with a strong long-A "ay" sound same as in Kayla.
I love the sounds in the name. But the FAY-dra prn, plus the suicide association that some people apparently have, make it a GP to me.
I think it makes a better first name than middle, though.
I don't like the combination with Isobel.
