I picture Alice from Alice in Wonderland - pretty, curious, well read, old fashioned. I never gave it much thought until a relative named their daughter this and she is so sweet and adorable that the name really grew on me.

Elise is one of my favorite names and the sounds are similar so that is probably a big reason. I guess I like that soft, lilting raise at the end. It sounds almost musical to me. I also like the possibility of Ally as a nickname.
