I would use Lena as a nickname for Helena, Magdalena, or Madalena.

I like it as a nickname for Elena. Elena is very high on my list and if I ever had a daughter named that I would probably regularly use Lena as a nickname. I also think it's fine as a full first name, but not for me.

Perhaps it's because I don't enjoy the names it tends to be short for, but I really don't like the sound or the look of it. I like Helen but not Helena, and Magdalen but not Magdalena.

I've always thought the name was quite under-rated and sweet. I also think it has quite a spunky feel to it, which I like.

I find it a bit bland and boring, honestly. There's not a ton of substance to it.

I like it. It's a bit bland, but it's still a nice name.

Magdalena is in my top 3 for a daughter and Lena is the nickname I'd use (she'd go by her full name most of the time(.

I have bad associations with this name, so I really don't like it. If I didn't have this association I would like it a lot.

It's my nickname, and while I love it, that's probably the reason why I can't really view it as a name on its own.

I find it nicknamey.

Dowdy, frumpy, immigrant-servant type of name.
