Eleanor

I've always liked Eleanor, but for some reason it gets silly if you look at it for too long. First it turns to Lea and then to lean and then it's hard to take it seriously. So, if I was going to use it (and given enough daughters I might well), I'd go the Elinor route.
None of the Eleanor/Elinor people I've known have used a nn. There are a couple of Nellie people in my genealogical past, but I don't know yet if some of them are Eleanor, Elinor, Ellen, Helen ... and one of them is just plain Nellie. Which I don't enjoy, but in today's world it's avoidable!

I really like its stately vibe and how it sounds strong yet still feminine. I just hope that it doesn't become too popular. Its freshness is waning these days, and unfortunately, I encountered a little girl named Eleanor (not sure of spelling) having a major meltdown in a grocery store, so that image stuck with me. Sure, it's a normal thing for kids, but that just brought it down to earth a little too much maybe!
I prefer Eleanor, but Elinor is lovely too. I don't really have a strong preference.

I love Eleanor. It's among my top ten for girls.
I also like Elinor, but strongly prefer/love Eleanor.
I like a variety of nicknames for Eleanor (Ellie, Nora, Nonie...) and Elinor (Ellie, Lin, Linnie...).
These are the Eleanor combos currently on my list: Eleanor Blythe, Eleanor Cecily, Eleanor Daisy, Eleanor Eugenie, Eleanor Josephine, Eleanor June, Eleanor Milly, Eleanor Poppy, Eleanor Tansy, Eleanor Violet, Eleanor Zinnia. I have a soft spot for floral middle names with Eleanor.

I love your combos! Especially Eleanor Cecily, Eleanor Josephine, Eleanor Poppy, Eleanor Violet, and Eleanor Zinnia.
I like Eleanor and Elinor equally. Eleanor is more classic, of course. But there is something whimsical and spunky about Elinor that I can't ignore. Love them both.
