Selene/Seleni
I adore the name Sally, and have been looking for a good long form for it. I came across Selene or Seleni, pronounced /SELL eh nee/ -- what do you think? I'm not a fan of Celine or Selena, but I like Selene; it has a nice serene, Greek mythological connection. Too weird for an actual person? (probably not with the nn Sally; still thinking about that one)

I'm all for Selene pronounced seh-LEH-nee. I'm just not wild about the stress on the first syllable.
I love it. :-D
You'd have to use Seleni, everyone would pronounce Selene see-leen. It's a gorgeous name and one I'd love to use. (I also love Irene pronounced i-ree-nee)

A lot of people will probably try to pronounce Selene like Celine even though sə-LEE-nee is the "correct" pronunciation. Seleni would be more likely to render the pronunciation you are hoping for. I prefer the spelling Selene myself, but I don't mind Seleni. It makes me think of the name Eleni, which I really like.
Sally seems like a bit of a stretch as a nickname for Selene or Seleni.

Not weird at all. I have a seventh grade student named Seleni. (say LAY knee)
I don't think Sally would work as a nn.
