Naja
Naja - opinions? NAH-zha
Opal Naja?
(also really liking Opal, River, Aurelia and Star at the moment, though i'm thinking its unfortunate my last name is Lefey, everyone seems to be associating it with an arthurian legend but as far as i was aware it is just a french-canadian surname name that i inherited - i guess liking unusual names causes a slight problem, what do you suggest?)

"NAH-zha" sounds like nausea...I wouldn't want my kid to be associated with puke.

to go with your last nameIf you're concerned with a name sounding too fantasy or Arthurian, look for other meanings of the names you like. First, though, I just wanted to say that Opal Naja Lefay sounds just fine - not to fairy-tale-ish. Personally I think Naja (nay-ah) Opal Lefay sounds even better. The unfortunate thing with the name River is 1) River Phoenix (a famous and now dead, therefore immortalized, actor) and 2) River Tam (a really beloved character from the super cult hit TV show Firefly and the fantastic movie Serenity). So, if you really like River, some alternatives could be Rivier or Riviere, Aradat, Fiume, Elv... which are literal translations of the word 'river' into various languages. Then there are names with 'river' or a similar word in the meaning (I just used BtN to find these...) like Aeronwy (which I think would sound pretty with Lefay), Guadalupe, Kendall (though this is rather trendy), Shannon, Beverly, Elva, Rhea, Rilla, Ava, Maya, Moana, Naida, Tallulah, Maytal...Do the same thing with Star and Aurelia (gold) - who knows, maybe you'll find something that's a better fit and that you like!

Naja in german......means "oh well", so it's kinda odd. :-)

That's what I thought of too...so I wouldn't use it for that reason.

I like both. I also love Aurelia and Star.(Just as a side note:
Naja means "little sister" in Greenlandic. Pronounced NAY-a, if you need an alternative way, to make it fit Lefey better. Just a thought mind you.)

Naja is nice, but with that pronunciation it might work better as a nickname for Nadezhda. I don't really like Opal, River, or Star, but I love Aurelia! Aurelia *middle name* LeFey would be great; no Arthurian assocations with that!I realize that Lefey is a french surname, but it's cool that it his mythological roots.
