I love Maisie! It's so cute! By itself, I reckon it's a bit TOO cute. It does sound really childish. It could be a nickname for May, Mary/Maria/Marie, Margaret, Marina, Marcelle, Martha, Matilda, Maya, Marcia, Miranda, Marisa... I think Maisie is great for heaps of Ma- names, especially Mar-. I like Maisie as the spelling. Maisy looks like a weird mash up with Daisy.

This is my cat's name. Spelled exactly like this. She came with the name Daisie Duke but I changed it.

I adore the name Maisie and prefer that spelling to Maisy. I definitely like it as a full name, but it can be used as a nn for Margaret.

I like Maisie-- it's huge in the UK right now, so it may get popular over here (although not all British names come this way). I kind of like it as a nn for Marcela, though I don't see why it couldn't stand on its own. I mean, Macy and Daisy do fine as fns, why not Maisie? On another note, it is the only nn for Margaret I can stand (do not like Meg, Maggie, Peggy etc.)

I used to hate Maisie as either a standalone or a nickname. With an all-consuming fiery passion sort of hate.

I've now warmed up to it a lot. It's the name of the heroine in a mystery series I love, and I recently met a sharp, confident, teen Maisy who wore it very well. I'm sure forming associations beyond the picture book mouse has helped me like Maisie more.

Whether or not it has the legs to stand alone, I'm undecided but leaning toward no. I prefer it as a nn for Margaret, and I like the Maisie spelling.

I do like the name and it reminds me of the little girl in Uncle Buck http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2300087808/tt0098554, she was cute and spunky. Although, I do know about the mouse Maisy, but it doesnt deter me in any way.

I dont think it really sounds like a name in and of itself...but I think it would make a good nickname for Margaret, considering that it is a variant of the name.

I don't like it at all. It seems like a servant name to me: "Maisie, you foolish girl! Bring up the master's shaving water!"
Or like a dog's name: "Come on, Maisie, let's go for a walk!"

Too precious, rustic, and childish for my taste. Sounds hokey and old like Pearlie. A name for a cow. I know, I know - I'm out of date ... it's not like that anymore ... but it is to me. FWIW.

Maisie seems like the best spelling to me, and Margaret seems like the likely full name. I guess it'd work for Mavis too.

If it were my name, I'd prefer to have the formal name, even if I was always called Maisie. It's a bit "light" to be one's only name.

I used to watch it when I was like 5. I found it unintentionally hilarious. Can't see it as a given name, but it could definitely work as a nickname. I prefer Maisy to Maisie.
