Maeleachlainn
I really like the name Maeleachlainn, and the pronunciation. I'm trying to find a more anglicised way of spelling it to make it easier for a British child to have the name at school. So far I have
Malachlin
Malaclin
Maleachlain
Malaklain
Malaklin
Malaclain
Malachlain
Malachlan
Malaclan
Malaklan
Any preferences? And please do say if you think it should just be left Maeleachlainn, I really don't want to butcher the name.
thanks

I also like the sound of it. It is a big long name to spell for a little one though. Malachlin looks okay to me and might make his life easier.
I agree that Maeleachlainn is way too much. It would be very difficult. Malaclin or Malachlin would work best.
Yeah, anglicised is definitely the way to go on this one! Yeesh! :)
-clan and -klan look funny to me. As do the -in endings.
Malachlan looks like the best option by far.

I'd say Malachlan or Malachlen but Malachlain and Malaclain aren't bad either. I'd avoid a "clan" or "klan" spelling though and the "clin/chlin" part looks really odd to me
*side note - it reminds me of Moloko

I think it has an odd kind of charm. I'd never use it, but I wouldn't hate to see it around. It's not a name I'd choose myself, but it is kind of interesting.
Good luck getting Maeleachlainn said right and spelled right, though. I think the original is the best, as with most things, but Malachlin is a happy medium of useable-ness and link to the original. My least favourites are Malaclan and Malaklan, I think they lack charm and clan/klan isn't great. All the others are somewhere on the fine-okay-not-my-style spectrum.

I love the way the name looks but there’s no doubt people are going to have trouble pronouncing it and the child is going to have trouble learning how to spell it- 13 letters is way too long IMO. I kind of like the spelling Malachlin but I really think any other spelling of this name does its uniqueness no justice.
I agree with everything you've said here, and I want to emphasize the length/spelling issue. My name is 9 letters long - people get overwhelmed looking at it :)
I'm sorry, but I think it's unusable. Unless maybe as a middle name. It's way too complicated. You may be able to explain the pronunciation of Cillian or Caoimhe even, or tell people to pronounce Alicia as ah-lee-SEE-ah, but Maeleachlainn is so complicated your child will have lots of trouble with it. I mean if you love it so much, go ahead. But I personally wouldn't recommend using it. I wouldn't change the spelling either though. The alternatives all look weird to me.
Also many people might pronounce the -leach part the way it looks which then sounds like leech which isn't appealing either.
Again, if you love it you should use it. I know I love some names others hate and the most important thing is that you like it. But you should be aware that your kid might have lots problems with it. Oh and maybe it would be better to pair this with a simple middle name.

I like the sound but I can't say i'm taken with any of the alternative spellings, maybe Malachlan but it doesn't have the same charm.
Hmm... good luck with that one

Yay, I love Maeleachlainn! I so very rarely see it ever mentioned here, I know there's like one other person who likes it at least.
I'd really just use Malachy, but I like the way Malachlin looks. It seems like a legitimate Anglicization.

I prefer Maeleachlainn, but I think Malachlan or Malachlin could also work :)
