It is not dated or boring. I have known or heard of about ten Aaron's in my life, not too popular in my opinion. I would be refreshing to hear of a new baby Aaron I think, and the double A seems cool to me for some reason.
I pronounce Aaron and Erin almost the same, Aaron is Air-uhn and Erin is Air-in but if I say them normally its hard to tell which I'm saying. I am from Northwestern coast of the US.
