Nate
I really like the nickname Nate for a boy. Does it work on its own? If not, do you prefer Nathan or Nathaniel as the full form? Or anything else? Do you think Nate is an overused nickname? Are Nathan and Nathaniel too common?

My son's name is Nathan and gets called Nate. I like it.

I wouldn't really balk at it on its own, but I much prefer Nate as a nickname for Nathan. For Nathaniel, I prefer "Than", but "Nat" also makes sense.

I think it works best as a nickname. I like both Nathan and Nathaniel, but right now I prefer Nathan. I don't think Nate is overused, and even though Nathan is supposedly quite common, I've only met one.I also think Jonathan can work as a full name for Nate, but it's a stretch.

I prefer Nat for Nathaniel only.

Nate is kind of cute, kind of fun and boyish. I think it's so boyish that it doesn't keep very long as a full name.

I love Nate as a nn, but I don't like it on its own. Both Nathaniel and Ignatius would be great formal names for it. :-)
