I tend to want to pronounce it as "KAH-shuh", which is what we in the U.S. think of as cinnamon. Actual cinnamon is more rare, expensive and, ironically, considered "less cinnamon-y" by tasters. But that's just where my brain goes when I see Cassia, it hasn't a thing to do with the actual derivation of the name.I actually prefer the sound pronounced your way, if I think of it as a nickname for Cassiopeia, or even Cassandra, but I wouldn't intuit that intention if I just saw the name on paper; I'd think of it first as cinnamon then correct myself and associate it with Cassius.
